Shoulder Season Activities

It's the shoulder season in Colorado right now. Mr X and I tend to get a little antsy during the should seasons here. Winter activities are coming to an end (though we still went snowboarding Friday) but Summer activities aren't quite feasible yet. So we decided to go play in Rocky Mountain National Park for the day on Saturday. The local animals were out in full force so that was a nice treat. I think we saw hundreds of Elk and probably close to 30 Bighorn Sheep. It was unpleasantly windy so we watched a movie about the park in the Visitor Center. It turned out to be a nice day despite the disagreeable conditions.

Adventures of Mr X

Last month Mr X was chomping at the bit to go fishing. He generally doesn't fish in the winter because it's just too cold. So he's been on a bit of a hiatus and he's very much ready for it to end. During some unusually warm days he decided to have a go at it. The lakes were still too frozen so he headed to a river. The river was partially frozen and running quite fast so it wasn't great for fishing either but he certainly tried. The trip turned out to be enjoyable anyway because he saw these:

Another Wild Spring in CO

As is typical in Colorado during spring, the weather is having an identity crisis. Earlier this week the weather plummeted from a warm and lovely 70 degrees down to 15 degrees in less than 24 hours. We received just shy of a foot of snow and other parts of the state enjoyed "thunder snow", ping pong sized hail and tornadoes.

Cheep - cheep - cheep!

Recently my Dad asked Mr X and I if we wanted to go in on buying some chickens with him. We said yes of course. My Dad will be doing most of the work involving the chickens but we'll join him to help later on in the process. Meanwhile, we convinced my Mom to snap some photos of our adorable little chicks. They are so cute I can hardly stand it.

This is the awesome chicken coop which my Dad ingeniously put together with old things laying about the property. I think it's perfect!
