Not long after I moved to the new place the deer started giving birth. There's not much more adorable than a brand new baby deer. Except maybe cuddly looking bear cubs.

Belated: My Birthday
I'm officially in my late thirties now [as of June]. Huge bummer.
Sadly, Mr X was half a world away for work on my birthday. Since he couldn't be there he made sure I had beautiful flowers and a much needed day at the spa with friends.
My friends made sure I had a delicious birthday lunch with them. It was so nice. They also gave me sweet and thoughtful gifts.
Thanks Mr X!

Skiing With Friends
While Mr X was gone most of my time was spent with work, home buying, packing and moving and being sick. However, I was able to get out and have some fun a few times. I convinced some friends to head up to the mountains for one last play in the snow. I had a really nice time.

Boys Trip Add-On
During The Boys' snowboard trip we did several days straight of boarding, so we decided to take the last day off - and go gambling. We played some slots and did okay but we spent most of our time at the "Boobie-Blackjack" table. Gib, Nate and I did well. Mr X lost his allotted play money and Dan watched and sampled the free sodas and popcorn.

Winter Throwback
I keep meaning to post photos of The Boys' snowboarding trip out here this past winter. It was loads of fun. Here's proof:

Our Yard
The land on which our new home sits is not a typical yard - it is very wild. In fact, we don't do much at all to it other than kill prickly sticker-weeds. It's been interesting to watch the plants around our house mature. Mr X and I talked about buying packets of wildflower seeds to sprinkle with abandon on our property. We bought the seeds but never got around to the sprinkling. As it turns out we didn't really need the seeds anyway. Here are some photos of the wildflowers around our home:
I don't know the names of most of them - though I've looked them up before. I'm terrible at remembering names. At our old place we had beautiful all-yellow Columbines outside our front door and I was sad to leave them. I even considered trying to dig some up in order to transplant them here at our new place. I decided against it since I was pretty sure I would kill them in the process. So I was delighted to discover that we have a couple of pink and yellow Columbines at our new place.
But later as I was working in my office, I looked out the window just in time to admire this deer - and then I watched it gobble up my precious Columbines! :-(
