Last weekend at the Farmer's Market I saw that pickling cucumbers were a really good deal so I convinced Mr X that pickle-making was in order. He was agreeable to the idea. (Mr X is the pickle-maker in our family.) Here are the results:
Many thanks to my dad who provided us with an ample supply of canning jars.
Looks promising. Let me know how you like them. Too bad we aren't closer. This is the year of the pickle. We have lots of pounds of canning cukes going to waste in our garden. He took some to your sister-in-law. She has the canning bug too!
Let me know how they taste. My first experience with pickling was a disaster. They looked so beautiful in their nice clear jars with mustard seeds, garlic, onions, and such.....they were NASTY! I worked so hard I wouldn't let Daniel throw them out. We have moved them to three houses now. They are a reminder of one of two things. Either I will never try that again or I will make the perfect pickle some day. Until then I have stuck to peaches and pears and other easier subjects:)
