Pagosa Springs

Recently Mr X and I took a trip to the southern region of Colorado. We were headed to Durango but we decided to stop for some rest and relaxation along the way. There's a place about an hour away from Durango that is famous for it's abundant natural sulfur hot springs. The facility has kept everything quite natural looking yet they've forced the spring water into many various small pools of differing temperature. The hottest ones were 111 and 109 degrees. I quickly touched my toe into those and that was about it for me. It felt like dipping my finger into a pot of boiling water - not pleasant. But most of the rest of the pools were in the mid-90 to the mid-100 degree temperature range. I pretty much couldn't handle anything over around 102 or 103. Mr X was a champ and took on the 111 degree one for about 30 seconds. It was incredibly relaxing and wonderful except that afterward we really smelled awful. It was worth it.

hot springs have always sounded so relaxing and fun to me but I've never been in any. I think the sulfur smell would take away from the "relaxation" part for me. I still want to go to one though.

Are they big enough for a resort? I also assume that there is a continuous flow for sanitation? I've been around pools too long. Hot makes a breeding ground for things other than warmth and smell.
