Russian Braid Bread
I attempted to make Russian Braid Bread for the first time recently. Visually it didn't turn out great but it certainly tasted sinfully delicious. It's basically a variation of brioche dough rolled out and then covered with a sweet almond paste (also homemade) with cinnamon which is then rolled up like a cinnamon roll. Once it's in a long roll you slice it lengthwise down the middle and then braid up the two sections and place it in a bread pan and bake it. I covered mine with a vanilla glaze and then sprinkled it with crushed pistachios.
Mr X and I each had a couple of slices and then we froze the rest. I was worried it wouldn't freeze well but Mr X reported later (I was out of town for work) that it was just as delicious after he had thawed it out and toasted it. For the record, it is WAY more tasty than cinnamon rolls.
