Well today is my last day of work at this job. Tomorrow I officially join the growing ranks of the unemployed people of America. While I'm not happy about that, I'm thrilled that I will no longer have 4 hours of commuting every day with the likes of Mr. Bogey.
But to be honest, these days I'm solely focused on moving related issues. I have moved 7 times in the last 8 years. I am so sick of it. But I am sure that there will be at least a few more moves for us. Mr X says we are modern day 'nomads'. I asked me dad how many times he's moved in his life - he's moved 8 times in over 60 years. My total in 30 years so far is something like 16 times or so.
This move so far is the most difficult and complicated for many reasons. One of those reasons is the fact we bought and moved into a house and therefore grew into a house (in terms of possessions). So now we have more 'things' than ever. Being a nomad is fine so long has you don't have much. Once you start toting around a bunch of couches and extra beds and things like that, it gets a whole lot more messy. My biggest concern right now is trying to fit everything we own into the single moving truck we have rented. We got the biggest one they have but based on what I'm seeing piling up in our garage, I have no idea how we'll get it all into the truck. We need a bag like Mary Poppins has where all of her big giant things just magically shrink and fit into her purse.

wow-congrats on your last day! that is so exciting--you should flick a booger on mr. bogey on your way home. it'll give him a good story for HIS blog.
and good luck with the stuff--wish i lived closer so i could take some of it off your hands...not that we have the room, either.
Wow- your last day!!! Exciting and nerve wracking and a bit of a relief I'm sure.
Hang in there.
Reading your post made me realize I have been unemployed for almost 3 years now. Sometimes it still feels weird. On the plus side -- going grocery shopping at 8:30AM on a weekday is the best! No one is there and all the shelves have been freshly restocked. Perhaps a lame plus side to unemployment, but still a perk.
