Mr X and I went to another concert at Red Rocks at the beginning of this month. This time it was a symphony concert. As much as I loved the music I have to admit that I'll probably not go to another one of these at that location. It's a great place for general music concerts but not for symphonies. The crowd was too rowdy - constantly getting up and coming and going during the middle of pieces, lots of chatter and noisiness. The music was fun though:
Adventures on Earth (E.T., Williams)
Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park, Williams)
Harry Potter's Wondrous World (Harry Potter, Williams)
Raider's March (Raiders of the Lost Arc, Williams)
The Simpsons (The Simpsons Movie, Elfman)
Batman Theme (Batman, Elfman)
Gabriel's Oboe (I forget the movie this was from, Morricone)
Silverado (Silverado, Broughton)
--Intermission--
Star Wars (Williams):
Main Title
Luke and Leia
Cantina Band Song
Jabba the Hut
The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme)
Duel of the Fates
Thrown Room & End Title
For the Star Wars portion of the concert, the Colorado Symphony teamed up with the 501st Mountain Garrison to show off some spectacular costume replications from the movies. See more about them here. The conductor of the symphony, Scott O'Neil, even walked on stage in full storm trooper regalia and conducted that way the entire evening (although he had to remove the helmet so he could see). At one point he put on a jedi master's cloak. It was a very interesting evening and I enjoyed the performances. Just not the crowd so much.
