The Lake District

After touring a bit of the Peak District, Mr X and I headed up to the Lake District, another national park area in England. This area, although excessively damp, was my favorite. It was beautiful. We stayed in Ambleside on Lake Windermere.

During our first day in this area we took off on a four hour hike. I've never hiked with an umbrella before but during this one it was necessary.

This is the beginning of the hike, in Ambleside.

The hike starts out following this lovely river out of town.

Then we crossed a bridge and headed for the hills.

Our hike took us up to the top of a smallish hill and then later up to a larger hill/mountain.

The view from the first hill.

The view from the second, larger hill.

The clouds were really hanging low. It made for interesting pictures.
