Memorial Weekend: Part IV

Sunday morning Mr X and I woke up and headed out for a half day canyoneering excursion. We hiked about a mile to the entrance of the canyon. Once we got there we rappelled down a 60 foot cliff.

The crack at the center of this photo is the crack in which we rappelled down. Then we had to scramble/boulder a bit to get out of the crack.

That shadow in this crevice is Mr X.
Then we came to this next area where we rappelled between a natural land bridge and another cliff, about 120 feet.

After the second rappel we had another 3 miles of hiking which included multiple stream crossings and a pretty sketchy section of winding through what seemed to be a forest of poison ivy. I've never seem so much in my life!

We finished sweaty but itch-free and exhilarated.
