Second - Each year Mr X and I request our "Birthday Cake" from each other. The other person has to make whatever treat the birthday girl/guy has requested. Mr X almost always chooses some sort of pie. My requests vary widely from year to year. This year I requested that Mr X make me a Mixed Berry Charlotte. I knew it was a rather involved dessert to make so I volunteered multiple times to help Mr X but he insisted that I wasn't allowed as it was my birthday. He was in the kitchen for a very long time. I felt really bad about my choice of cake. Until I saw the results, of course:
Isn't Mr X talented? I was so very impressed with him. I've always told him that he's a better cook that I am. I think this is proof, don't you? He did a wonderful job.
And, in case you were wondering, it was absolutely delicious.
